Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you? It's a Christmas Carol rich and resplendent with thought-provoking lyrics; and yet this one verse makes me awe at the brilliance of what God did. Through this divine, miraculous birth of the child of our living God, Mary and the rest of humanity was given the gift of deliverance from dark to light, death to life, chains to freedom, grief to celebration, chaos to peace, sadness to joy, brokenness to wholeness, shame to acceptance, and loneliness to family.
